“OC&C appealed to me because the firm is young and fast-growing.”
After my studies I became a management trainee at a telecommunication company in Hong Kong, but gravitated to strategy consulting in search of something less routine and formalised, and more intellectually challenging. OC&C appealed to me because the firm is young and fast-growing, which of course means loads of opportunities and the people are all so enthusiastic.
Working on an expansion strategy project for a beverage company in Indonesia where we didn’t even speak the language was pretty challenging! It let me learn the foundation work of doing market sizing/competitive analysis, customer home visits in cities throughout the country to understand customer preference, visiting warehouses/distribution centres to understand the supply chain operation, and traversing a forest in search of a spring suitable for production.
OC&C is truly internationalised, and your team is never limited to your own office colleagues. I have enjoyed working with colleagues from other offices through the ambassador program, and learning about the different working approaches, cultural values and management styles.

I joined OC&C after working for another strategy consulting firm in the US. What drew me to the OC&C Greater China office was the ability to work in a startup office in one of the largest and fastest growing economies in the world. I wanted the freedom to shape the development of the new Shanghai office as well as take on additional challenges not usually given in larger offices.
As a consultant, one is expected to contribute fully to both the development of the client delivery analysis as well as the development of other junior team members. While the OC&C team in the Greater China is currently small in number, everyone is extremely friendly and will go out of their way to make sure each individual on the team is successful.

I joined OC&C Greater China office immediately after completing my B.A. at Oxford University. I was always drawn towards strategy consulting as a profession because of the diverse opportunities it provides early in one’s career.
Although many consulting firms offer similar opportunities, the people and culture are what make OC&C unique. The learning curve has been steep and there has never been a moment where I found learning opportunities were limited - OC&C allows me to challenge myself on a daily basis and do impactful work for clients that is highly fulfilling and rewarding.
I have learned that OC&C is a fast-paced and challenging environment of intelligent, hardworking and motivated people, where diversity is respected and success is meritocratic. It is the people who truly set OC&C apart from any other firms.
The fact that OC&C Greater China has been growing quickly also strongly motivates me to join and participate in its amazing growth.

“The variety and vibrancy of strategy consulting.”
Before joining OC&C Greater China in 2007 as a Consultant, I’d had a spell with another strategic consulting firm, managed a manufacturing company, and taken an MBA at INSEAD.
I left consulting for industry after business school to see how strategic initiatives turn into results. The experience was very rewarding, but I found myself missing the variety and vibrancy of strategy consulting, so returned to consulting with OC&C. The relatively small size of the Greater China office highlighted the value of peer support, and I get plenty from my colleagues, who are all highly professional and fun.
There’s no such thing as a typical day, but the reality varies from a quiet day in the office preparing for a board presentation to running around in Changsha interviewing disco operators and studying how consumers drink. One constant would be the airport, which I visit on average twice a week, going to places throughout China and South East Asia I’d have little chance of visiting otherwise!

After working in the advertising and marketing field in the Greater China region for a few years, I joined OC&C Hong Kong as Associate Consultant.
I have been focusing on Consumer goods and Retail during my years in advertising and marketing and I joined OC&C for greater exposure to strategic issues across different industries and sectors, along with intellectual challenges and opportunities for continuous self-development.
Working in the fast-growing OC&C China office gives me lots of opportunities to work in different industries and on different project topics. Together with the great potentials and development pace of Consumer goods and Retail in China, I am sure I will have a much faster career development working in OC&C.

I started my career in an international trading company in China on domestic and export timber business and then worked in Europe for several years for Danone & Coca-Cola after obtaining my master degree in management.
Frequent overseas travel and customer and supplier communication helped me develop ability in handling complex situations in business. My experiences in FMCG and retailing industries have provided me with practical business operation ideas which are crucial.
Consulting is a whole new experience for me. The working process for each project follows a certain degree of routine however the real challenging and exciting part is to help different businesses resolve various problems in a dynamic and ever-changing market and business environment.
Working in OC&C is not all about work and absolutely not work alone. As a team, we share ideas generated based on individual experiences in our respective fields; plus plenty of recreation time together too.

Being an Associate Partner of a start-up office is exciting and challenging. Besides working with the team on project delivery, client management and client development, I involve in office administration and people development on a day-to-day basis. Time management and multi-tasking become essential skills.
I have worked on a vast diversity of projects among different Asian countries in past months and we receive full support from the Germany and Paris offices and the reality of being in a truly international partnership with supporting colleagues is comforting and assuring.
We are shaping the office and its culture from all aspects including recruiting the right people and coaching and developing the junior members. The Shanghai office is expanding, and I am sure that there will be opportunities for interesting work and more challenges in building the new office. I am looking forward to it!

I studied economics in Hong Kong and spent one year studying political sciences in France. I started my career at OC&C Greater China office right after my graduation after working as a part-time consulting assistant with the office for about a year.
I am fascinated by the energetic life a consultant enjoys, OC&C provides me more than everything I have expected for consulting. Assessing the online potential for luxury retailing in China was my very first project and was extremely challenging given the nonexistence of the market. I also get to travel - In my first year with OC&C Greater China, I have worked in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Paris and Thailand!
More importantly, I am trusted and respected by my team members. I feel that I am developing quickly with outstanding people around me, plus I enjoy working, sharing and having fun with them.
Tony
Manager
My role as a manager at OC&C is full of challenges everyday. My daily routine is normally packed with client meetings, internal team meetings for project updates, team problem solving, and brain storming sessions.
I also visit different operation units of clients to understand their business operation processes, interview managers to develop industry insights and to identify improvement opportunities. From time to time, I also need to conduct store checks, channel visits and interviews with customers, suppliers and competitors in order to formulate strategies for the client.
Serving clients is not my only responsibility; I also spend considerable time on coaching and developing junior team members. Although the firm has formal training sessions, junior consultants learn most effectively when there are real tasks to accomplish when they are doing projects. Everyone in the team can contribute to our culture of continuous improvement.
